Best Specialty Coffee Shops in Brussels

The top specialty coffee shops in Brussels show why it is one of the most popular cities on Kava, with hundreds of coffees rated at cafés throughout the city. What’s more, it’s home to some of Belgium’s best coffee roasters so there are plenty of places to try a locally roasted coffee.

Let’s take a look at some of the top rated specialty coffee shops in Brussels in more detail.

Frank

Australian-inspired Frank has two locations, one at Stephanie and the other at La Monnaie. They are big on breakfast and brunch, with a capital B, and you’ll find a lot more than just avo toast - there’s an ever-changing seasonal menu, focusing on sustainable vegetable-focused cooking. The coffee offering includes espresso and filter options, with a rotating guest roaster. Kava users can’t get enough of their milk-based espresso drinks, especially Flat Whites and Iced Lattes.

BOUCHE Specialty Coffee

Another Brussels favorite with two locations, BOUCHE is deservedly one of the top specialty coffee shops in the city. There’s a lot of thought behind the café, not only in terms of the interior, also the bespoke cups, and of course, the coffees. BOUCHE don’t limit themselves to local roasters, you’ll find coffees from specialty roasters throughout the Europe such as DAK, and even further afield like New York’s SEY and California’s Hydrangea. They have a full range of coffee drinks available including espresso, batch brew, and a hand brew filter menu.

Stella Pastry Atelier & Brunch

Stella are rightly proud of their pastries, with some of the best looking sweet treats in the city. The food menu also includes brunch bowls and both sweet and savoury pancakes. On the coffee menu you’ll find espresso and hand brew filter options, with a focus on local roasties like Wide Awake.

Wide Awake

Local favourite Wide Awake Coffee Roasters have three locations in the city, with their original roastery location on Rue de Flandre being the most rated café in Brussels on Kava. There’s a huge attention to detail in the roasting process, with a highly data-driven approach, focused on flavor clarity and consistency. This follows through to the coffee brewing, with their coffees being some of the most consistently rated of any coffee shops we’ve seen. At each location you’ll find a full menu of espresso, batch brew, and hand brew filter including competition-grade coffee options.

DRACHE Specialty Coffee Bar

DRACHE is a close second in popularity to Wide Awake and is consistently one of the best specialty coffee shops in the city. They have a rotating selection of guest roasters such as Andy, alongside their house beans roasted for them by Parlor. Espresso and filter drinkers are catered to with batch brew and hand brew options. The café is partially laptop friendly, with a very reasonable request that customers limit laptop to weekday mornings.
